| Exam Conducting Body | Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) |
| Examination Mode | Offline (OMR Sheet with Black/Blue Ballpoint Pen) |
| Total Duration | 2 Hours 15 Minutes (135 minutes) |

2. Section-Wise Distribution of Questions & Marks
| Subject Section | Questions | Marks | Evaluation Nature |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mathematics | 50 | 200 | Rank Determining |
| Engineering Mechanics | 50 | 200 | Rank Determining |
| Technical English | 50 | 200 | Mandatory Qualifying Only |
| Total | 150 | 600 | Merit calculated out of 400 marks |
⚠️ Critical Rule: Technical English Qualifying Criteria
Technical English is strictly qualifying in nature. A candidate must secure a minimum qualifying score (typically at least 35 marks or approximately 9 net correct answers out of 50). If a candidate fails to qualify in Technical English, their Mathematics and Mechanics answer sheets are not evaluated for merit ranking, regardless of how high their score would have been.
3. How State Merit Rank is Calculated
Your BCECE LE State Merit Rank (General Merit & Category Merit) is derived strictly from the aggregate total marks of Mathematics + Engineering Mechanics (Total out of 400 marks):
- Formula:
Merit Score = (Math Correct × 4 - Math Incorrect × 1) + (Mechanics Correct × 4 - Mechanics Incorrect × 1) - Tie-Breaking Order: In the event of equal aggregate scores between two or more candidates:
- Higher marks in Mathematics.
- Higher marks in Engineering Mechanics.
- Older candidate by date of birth.
4. Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: Minimum 3-year diploma in engineering/technology approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education (SBTE Bihar).
- Minimum Marks: At least 45% aggregate marks in diploma (40% for candidates belonging to SC/ST/EBC/BC reserved categories).
- Appearing Candidates: Students appearing in their final semester diploma examination are eligible to sit for the entrance exam, subject to producing passing credentials during counselling.
